Viktor Uygan at American Ballet Theater’s Orange County summer intensive

Viktor had an exciting summer at the American Ballet Theater’s Orange County summer intensive. This intensive invites kids from all over the world to audition and be accepted to one of the finest summer programs in the nation. Viktor taught for two weeks there all 4 levels of classes with over 30 students per class. He went over specific target training for dancers with an emphasis on the standing leg and how to increase turn out. The dancers responded with great success and were excited to be using dance conditioning on the things that they need most. Viktor does various target training workshops and stretch intensives throughout the year at ArtForm Studio were students focus and learn how to manage things such as, flexibility, rotation, arabesque, balance and many more.

Kelly Leonardi-Uygan at Southland Ballet Summer Program

Kelly taught a 3-week summer intensive to the students attending the Southland Ballet’s summer program. There were 4 levels of classes with about 25 students per class in the three weeks we covered a before and after injury prevention workshop. The first week covered proper ways to warm up before class how to focus on particular muscle groups along with an emphasis of importance in form and alignment. Moving forward from there we continued to cover key exercises from head to toe ending the program on a high note of a full body,, warm- up and cool -down before and after class and how to integrate specific exercises to enhance performance. All of the dancers were enthusiastic to remember and understand the whole series the last class we went through everything non- stop. I left with a reassuring feeling knowing the kids had some newfound knowledge of their bodies and how to keep them healthy for the duration of their careers.

Work Out with St. Jude May 15th

ArtForm Studio decided to hold a special day to give back in honor of St. Jude Children’s Hospital on May 15th   2009.  We had an amazing event with live classical music donated by a local musician, delicious treats donated by our trainers and clients and beautiful decorations donated by family members and local businesses. Our trainers donated their whole day with free training to client’s friends and family members as a way to get the whole community involved. All sessions were offered at considerably lower prices as a way to make it affordable for anyone to be involved in such a meaningful cause. All proceeds from the sessions went to benefit the children and research. The day ended with positive notes in many ways a great cause, a large donation to send to St. Jude and a wonderful overall feeling from everyone involved. Thank you again for a memorable day.

ArtForm Studio client and owner's son, Skylar had an amazing week competing against some of the most talented dancers in the world. He was selected to do a daily interview broadcasted on YouTube that we have posted on our site under videos. Please take a moment for an in depth look at the whole experience. In the end Skylar advanced into the Finals, were 8 boys and 12 girls performed in front of a sold out house. The Final performance was broadcasted live on two channels shown throughout Europe.

Skylar did great and we want to congratulate him on recieving not only a cash prize but 3 scholarship offers one to the Hamburg School in Germany, Zurich in Switzerland, San Fransisco Ballet School and a job offer to be an Apprentice with the National Ballet of Canada for the fall of 2009. Well done Skylar your hard work and dedication along with love for the art is a joy to watch and we can't wait to follow your career in the future.

 

 

Skylar Campbell goes to the Prix de Lausanne....learn more

Congratulations to Skylar Campbell for being the one of two selected canadates to represent the US in Switzerland at the Prix de Lausanne 2009 international ballet competition. The Prix is one of the worlds oldest and most prestigious ballet competitions and will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland from Jan 27th-Feb 1st 2009. He was awarded a scholarship for his entry fees and an advanced placement in the semi-finals to the Prix last year while attending the finals of the Youth America Ballet Ballet Competiton in NYC.
